Jerome B. Watson (Jerry) was installed as deacon of TRBC in March 2001. He was married to his wife Susan DeMoss April 8th, 1989. They have two grown children, son, Ian and his wife Kayla, daughter, Bethany, and three beautiful granddaughters.
Some accomplishments in his life have been service in missions. During his college years in the 1980’s, Jerry was involved in various week-long mission trips throughout the United States. Also during his college days he was the international chairman for the Baptist Student Union reaching out to international students on the campus. After college he also served as a summer missionary in Los Angeles and missionary to a poor black neighborhood in Allendale, a suburb of Shreveport, for 1½ years.
Jerry graduated from Louisiana Tech University in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering Technology. He also obtained an Associate Degree in Nursing in 1994 and a Masters in Nursing in 1997. After graduating he became a Geriatric Nurse Practitioner and practices in nursing homes and retirement centers.
Jerry’s goals have been to proclaim the good news of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and to further His kingdom in the world. He is actively involved in a nursing home ministry and a ministry to prisoners at the Federal Correctional Institution here in Texarkana, Texas.
Jerry enjoys reading biographies and theology, watching sports, camping, and spending time with his family. Some of the greatest events in his life are his conversion at the age of 16, marriage to his wife at the age of 30, and the birth of his son, daughter, and granddaughter.
