The church of Pergamos is a compromising church. We are on the third of seven churches of Asia minor. These churches our Lord addresses - real churches with real people with specific concerns and issues and it should comfort us that our Lord knows us and walks with us through these issues.
John introduced himself as your brother and partner in the tribulation kingdom and perserverance. Tribulation is not nearly a future event. It's made clear in Peter's sermon at Pentencost that the end of the age had already begun. One of the marks of the end of the age is tribulation.
We are transitioning in our study of the Revelation to our Lord's letters to the seven churches of Asia Minor. I want you to think for a moment how precious and amazing it would be if our Lord wrote a personal letter to us.
To walk through the book of Revelation, we need a road map.
